The raised version has always been the more popular model for retail applications. Since these registers were discontinued in 2019 they have been hard to come by. The SAM4s SAP-630R replaced the 520R
If you are looking to upgrade we can transfer your database from the SPS-500 series into the new SAP-630 series. The SAP-630R is a far more advanced system. The biggest changes come in reporting and programming. This is the first SAM4s series that operates on Android and can email reports. What are the best three models of cash registers for the C-Store Market?
If you did not already know, SAM4s is really the only commercial grade line of cash resisters being sold in North America. They have been making great progress bringing new models to market that really are hybrid cash register/pos systems. before we look at the three best models let's examine the features that make one register better than the other. You then can decide if you need those features or not.
What features do you need in a cash register in a quick retail environment.
All cash registers are not created equally, don't find out the hardware way. Us our list of features below to at least think about some of the functions you may need.
Bar Code Scanning, how many UPC's will you need. This is a pretty basic feature found in most models these days, however consider the number of UPC's you may need.
Receipt and Journal Printer. This is an important feature and not one to be overlooked. Most modern registers no longer have a printed Journal tape (Audit) although they most all have an electronic journal.

SAM4s end-users often contact us wanting to know if their SAM4s cash register works with a Kitchen Video system (KVS). The answer of course is yes most of them do. If you really want to amp up the production level of your operation think about adding a KVS to your SAM4s POS system. Adding a KVS adds unbeatable workflow to your kitchen. There is a reason the big franchises have been using KVS for a long time. The information a KVS system provides you with will really tell you in real time how good your kitchen is.
The E-Pad KVS system is flexible allowing you to customize your system. For an example many operators will put a screen and bump box at the grill and another at the drive through window and often another at the drink or ice cream station.

This is one of the most common calls we receive. My register errors that memory is full. Unless your registers memory allocation was not set up properly this is probably not true. What is happening in most cases is you are adding UPC items using the PLU not found feature which is a great way to add them.
The error is misleading in this case. the memory that is full is the buffer holding the not found PLU's you just added. The maximum amount is 100 regardless of the amount of memory your register has on board.
Watch the video and we explain how to reset the buffer and get you back on track. Of course if you are not using the PLU not found feature to assist the programming of new items it can really indicate the memory has been filled. Even if that is the case don't panic, we can solve most of those cases too. Important thing to do in that case is nothing until you have spoken to an expert. The popular ER-5200M cash register sadloy is no longer made. We sold our last few of these machines a few months ago. The good news is that there are several great replacement models.
