Just today we took in another four SPS-520 cash registers in on trade. These will be sold as either the F or R version.  The raised version has always been the more popular model for retail applications. Since these registers were discontinued in 2019 they have been hard to come by. So if you are currently looking for one don't wait too long because they go quickly every time we get a trade in.

The SAM4s SAP-630R replaced the 520R

If you are looking to upgrade we can transfer your database from the SPS-500 series into the new SAP-630 series. The SAP-630R is a far more advanced system. The biggest changes come in reporting and programming. This is the first SAM4s series that operates on Android and can email reports. Not only can reports be emailed but it also has an optional mobile application.  Support is also made much easier because we can remotely log into this register.

Clearing out the PLU not found Buffer on the SAM4s SPS-520RT register

This is one of the most common calls we receive. My register errors that memory is full. Unless your registers memory allocation was not set up properly this is probably not true. What is happening in most cases is you are adding UPC items using the PLU not found feature which is a great way to add them.

The error is misleading in this case. the memory that is full is the buffer holding the not found PLU's you just added. The maximum amount is 100 regardless of the amount of memory your register has on board.

Watch the video and we explain how to reset the buffer and get you back on track. Of course if you are not using the PLU not found feature to assist the programming of new items it can really indicate the memory has been filled. Even if that is the case don't panic, we can solve most of those cases too. Important thing to do in that case is nothing until you have spoken to an expert. The SAM4s SPS-520 FT cash register is the most advanced model on the market today. Why you might ask? Well the SAM4s company has been very aggressive in designing and bringing to market the most feature reach registers in the world. While they use to play second fiddle to Sharp or Casio they now are the lead dog in the cash register market.

The SAM4s SPS-520 FT cash register is a hybrid cash register featuring a large flat keyboard which is very traditional cash register paired with a seven inch touch screen which is very high end POS thus creating a hybrid cash register POS system.

You really have to use the SAM4s SPS-520 FT to appreciate the simplicity and efficiency in which it works. What you will notice right away is the keyboard operates just like a traditional register, press a button it sells the item right. No big deal as we have all seen that right. SAM4s SPS-500 series cash drawer inserts

When SAM4s introduced the SPS-500 series they hit a home run. The only snag is after the register series had been out for awhile they changed the cash drawer insert. The original models came with a model 56 insert and it was very popular. Then for unknown reasons to us they switched to the 57 insert.

This had lead to some confusion when end-users attempt to order additional cash drawer inserts. One of the best ways to tell is located on the front left of the front of the cash drawer. You will see a large sticker that is a 56 or a 57 and then you know what type you have. Often that sticker has been removed so again you don't know.

The second way to identify the insert type is the insert itself. The original drawer model 56 has a two piece insert. The coin tray of the 56 will remove from the rest of the insert. The 57 insert is a one piece and the coin tray portion itself does not separate from the insert.

What is the differance between the SAM4s SPS520F and the SPS-530F

SAM4s SPS-520F cash register

Many people ask what the difference is between the 520F and the 530F and the answer is very simple. The SAM4s SPS-520F has a receipt printer and a journal/audit printer (dual station printing) and the SAM4s SPS-530F has a single receipt printer that uses 3 1/8th paper which is the standard guest check paper size.

If you need a journal or audit tape with the 530F then you can turn on the electronic journal which prints to memory instead of a paper.

Other then the printer difference the two machines are the same. They both use the Datacap Twin Tran for credit card interface, they both can interface to computer, kitchen printer, kitchen video, scale and more.

Yesterday we blogged about the SPS-520 but today we will look at the new model of the 500 series. The other model is the SAM4s SPS-530 cash register is sold in two different keyboard versions. One is the SPS-530R or AKA as the SPS-530RT is a version made for retail applications like gift stores, C-Store, grocery stores, feed stores etc. This version included raised keys that are easier to key in open prices or a SKU or UPC number as opposed to the flat keyboard 530F as pictured above.

The SPS-530F as mentioned above includes a flat micro-motion keyboard designed for restaurants. The large flat keyboard allows for all (or many) of your menu items to be placed on the keyboard for one-touch selling. The SPS-520F was made in mind for restaurants, bars, clubs, cafeterias and more types of food service.

Both the R and F version both feature a large 3 1/8th" receipt printer to issue a receipt to your customer. The receipt can also be made to print on demand only if desired. If a journal is required then you would use an electronic journal also known as an "EJ" which can be printed.

Either machine has the choice of many options like credit card interface with the Datacap, kitchen printers, scales, DVR, kitchen video, coin changers and more.
