Why are there 4 model numbers for the SAM4s SPS-500 Series Cash Register

SAM4s SPS-520F Cash Register

The SAM4s SPS-500 series Cash Register includes models:

The SAM4s SPS-500 series from is one of the best if not the best selling cash registers on the market today. People always ask me what the difference are between the different models. Below is the explanation

  • The R in the model number indicates a raised keyboard. This style of tactile keyboard in most often asscoitated to retail stores.
  • The F in the model number tells you the model features a flat keyboard designed for food service.
  • A 520 has both a receipt and journal printer and uses 2.25″ thermal paper
  • A 530 has only one printer which uses 3 1/8″ thermal paper designed for a guest check or large receipt
So to recap R stands for raised and is for retail, F is for flat and is for restaurant. The SPS 520 has two on-board printers, and the SAM4s SPS 530 a large 3 1/8th" thermal single station printer.

SAM4s has a new register it is ER-180T Cash Register

The SAM4s ER-180T cash register is a new state of the art commercial grade cash register with a thermal printer and black in color. Looks great with lots of features for a tiny price. This machine replaced the SAM4s ER-150 and the 150-II

SAM4s ER-265 Cash Register
The SAM4s ER-265 Cash Register is loaded with features and in it’s price range is a great value.

This is a great little machine. I do not recommend where you will be doing a large amount of 10 key entry because of the flat restaurant style keyboard. If you use preset buttons it is a killer machine! Very small and low profile. If you have a busy liquor store or gas station probably not the machine and you should step up a few models.

I see this machine working best in counter service restaurant, Bars, Night Clubs, Snack Bars, fairs, sports arenas and more. Best place to buy the SAM4s ER-265 Cash Register

Can a Cash Register take credit cards without a terminal

Yes if you have a high quality SAM4s Cash Register or a Sharp Cash Register then you can add a Datacap device to it and turn your cash register into a credit card terminal.

After you add a Datacap to a SAM4s cash register or Sharp Cash Register it makes credit card transactions  more secure, faster, and with fewer errors. The Datacap also will allow your cash register to accept your own private label Gift Card program which is Money in the Bank!

I’m only aware of one product that allow cash registers to become credit card terminals and that is the Datacap devices. If someone tells you your cash register can interface to a standalone credit card terminal they do not know what they are talking about.

SAM4s SPS-520F, SPS-520R, SPS-530R, and SPS-530F are the best cash register terminals on the market today!

Yes that is a bold statement but take a look for yourself and I think you will become a big fan too. My company has been in the Cash Register Business for over 30 years and we have never sold such an incredible machine as the SAM4s SPS-500 series of cash registers.

The SPS-500 series is made up of 4 models The SAM4s SPS-520FT or also known as the SPS-520F and the SAM4s SPS-530RT or also known as the SAM4s SPS-530R  The first difference between the models is that the 520X has both a receipt and journal printer and the 530X has only a single 3 1/8" inch receipt tape. Next difference in the models is 5XXFT or 5XXF has a flat keyboard suitable for restaurants and the 5XXRT or 5XXR has raised keys designed to be used in a retail application.

All of them are the same machine after you get past the printers and/or keyboard styles. Any of them can interface to Credit Card payments, Gift Card Payments, computer interface, bar code scanner, kitchen printer, DVR and even more.

One of the features we like the most on the SAM4s SPS-500 series is the fact the options are affordable and plentiful. As an example the memory card can be added for only $75.00 and can be done after the fact. The SAM4s SPS-500 series terminals also feature a USB port, keyboard port, and multiple serial ports. This allows you to back up the cash register program to a thumb drive and keep for yourself in case of failure.

This register system truly is a hybrid system between a POS system and cash register!

SAM4s SPS-520 Cash Register

So the SAM4s SPS-500 series of cash registers is the most powerful and easy to use register we have ever seen. If you are looking for a cash register you can not go wrong with a SPS-520 or SPS-530.

There are two models because the SPS-520RT or the SAM4s SPS-520FT comes old school with a receipt and journal paper tape, and the SAM4s SPS-530FT or SPS-530RT include only a receipt tape printer.

Both are available in a raised keyboard for retail stores or a flat keyboard for restaurants. You can not beat the price for this machine! $999.00 for a 530 or $1099.00 for a 520 and teh other machines on the market can not come close to them and I know because I was born and raised in the cash register biz! I thought I had seen it all until this machine came out! Don't buy anything else unless you need high end inventory control. In that case get a POS system like Keystroke.

New website for Sharp Cash Registers and SAM4s Cash Registers

So a new site has been launched offering SAM4s Cash Registers and also the commercial grade line of Sharp Cash Registers they have Cash Register Supplies as well.
