The cash register guys carry the harder to find cash register receipt paper and ink ribbons and rollers. One paper size in particular that seems to be harder for people to find is the 44mm thermal paper. Many Sharp cash registers use 44mm paper including many XE models.
We always stock 44mm thermal as well as 44mm bond paper rolls as well. Not sure what you register uses then call us at 1-800-863-2274 and I'm sure we carry your cash register supplies.
Need help selecting a cash register or maybe help programming one? I might be able to help. Please feel free to search the blog for the topic you need help with or post a message and I'll reply whether I can help or not.

Ink rollers and receipt paper for cash registers
Not only do we know a lot about cash registers here we know a lot about the supplies they need. We sell many different types of receipt paper and inking devices including the popular ink roller IR-90/91 and the ERC-18 cartridge ribbon.
We have noticed some people have a hard time finding receipt paper in some pretty common sizes. We offer 44mm bond (requires ribbon) as well as 44mm thermal receipt paper (no ribbon required). We also carry all the other normal sizes like 2.25" thermal and even 2 and 3 ply rolls.
Don't forget to protect your cash register with a keyboard cover. We carry all the covers for SAM4s cash registers and most if not all of the commercial grade Sharp cash registers.
If you are looking for cash register supplies give us a call at 1-800-863-2274 and we will try and help you out.

Take up motor kits for the SAM4s ER-5200M and other registers
The Cash Register Guys have made the SAM4s take up motor kit available online. This is a common replacement part that drives the take up spool which winds the journal tape as it is printed. The kit consist of the motor, wire harness, gear (large white gear) and the black roller (installed on the white gear) This is pretty easy to change out yourself. This works on the following
- SAM4s ER-5200M Journal Take Up Motor
- SAM4s ER-5215M Journal Take Up Motor
- SAM4s ER-5240M Journal Take Up Motor
- SAM4s SER-7000 Journal Take Up Motor

Yes you can buy a replacement take up spool for your SAM4s cash register. The take up spool is the device on the journal printer side of your register (right side printer) that collects the paper on the spool, thus the "take up spool"
We have Take Up Spools for all the SAM4s cash registers so even if you don't see in on the pick list give us a call at 1-800-863-2274

SAM4s SPS-500 series cash drawer inserts
When SAM4s introduced the SPS-500 series they hit a home run. The only snag is after the register series had been out for awhile they changed the cash drawer insert. The original models came with a model 56 insert and it was very popular. Then for unknown reasons to us they switched to the 57 insert.
This had lead to some confusion when end-users attempt to order additional cash drawer inserts. One of the best ways to tell is located on the front left of the front of the cash drawer. You will see a large sticker that is a 56 or a 57 and then you know what type you have. Often that sticker has been removed so again you don't know.
The second way to identify the insert type is the insert itself. The original drawer model 56 has a two piece insert. The coin tray of the 56 will remove from the rest of the insert. The 57 insert is a one piece and the coin tray portion itself does not separate from the insert.
Below I have added some pictures with labels to help you identify which you have. Here is a link to where you can buy either insert for the SAM4s SPS-520R cash register.

Thermal Paper rolls for Sharp cash registers
All of the newer Sharp cash registers use thermal paper. Every since they retired the Sharp ER-A320 register which used 44mm bond paper all of their registers use thermal paper.
There are two primary sizes of thermal paper for the Sharp registers. Most use the 2.25" thermal 200 foot roll. A few examples are The Sharp ER-A520 paper rolls are 2.25" thermal as well as the ER-530 paper rolls.
The other size which is less popular is 44mm Thermal. A very popular register that uses it is the Sharp ER-A420 paper rolls.
Of course if your cash register uses thermal paper it will not require an ink roller or ribbon!

Don't forget to cover your cash register's keyboard
![]() |
Cash register keyboard cover |
Keyboard covers are made for flat restaurant style registers as well as registers designed for retail with raised keys. Of course in food service your machine is facing more dangers but don't forget in the retail world dangers lurk too!
Most keyboard covers no longer cover the key or the credit card reader. There are a few older models that the key area is covered however the key hole is still vulnerable.
Over the years we have seen $20.00 keyboard covers save a machine from spills of everything possible! You can never be too safe and the cost of doing business without a register is far greater then the cost of a cover.
Here are a few places that offer keyboard covers

Free keyboard templates for cash registers
Today's technology now allows you to create your own custom keyboard templates for cash registers. Whether it is a SAM4s, Sharp or Casio you can now create new keyboard overlays with MS Word or Excel whenever you like.
In the good old days your dealer would have a proprietary software and printer that created these keyboard. Believe me because I once paid $1500.00 for a custom software package and plotter to make keyboards and that was when $1500.00 was a lot of money (1985)!
Here are several cash register keyboard templates available for free down load. I always advise people to print a blank one first to test for size, also make sure you printer is not shrinking to fit and almost every register will need legal size paper not letter size!

Keyboard covers for SAM4s cash registers
We find adding a keyboard cover to you cash register will often make it last longer just by helping keep dust and lint out of the register not to mention the protection it provides in a spill. Also for flat restaurant style cash register keyboards replacing every so often helps the cashiers as the covers can cloud over time depending on your local envriorment.
We stock most of the keyboard covers for SAM4s cash registers and Samsung registers. If we don't have in stock we should be able to order for you. Even though a newer model we don have covers for the following

Are you protecting your cash register's keyboard?
Should I install a keyboard cover on my cash register. In almost every case that would be yes. Keyboard covers can protect your cash register from spills and also help keep dust and other airborne substances from out of your cash register. It won't stop everything but they help for sure.
Does every business need to have a keyboard cover? For example maybe a hardware store where there is never any liquid near the machines (don't forget cashiers soda pops or coffee) and you do a lot of 10 key maybe you could get away without it. I would still install one as they cost about $25.00 in most cases and can protect a $1000.00 cash register from being ruined!
Here are a couple links for keyboard covers. Sharp Cash Register Keyboard Covers or SAM4s Cash Register Keyboard Covers and don't forget the restaurant style registers all have keyboard covers that can be replaced. Don't live with a worn cover you can no longer see through when again they cost $25.00 to $35.00 on average.
