HOW DO I PROGRAM FOODSTAMP SUBTOTAL AND TOTAL BUTTONS ON SAMSUNG ER650?

Dave said...

OK this works the same rather it is a SAM4s ER-650 model or a SAM4s ER-650R cash register.

This is a bit of of an advanced programming job so please make sure and refer to the manual as well.

Page 110 of the manual
In the SM control lock position menu, press 6 for Key Assignment
programming.

Screen should display:
KEY ASSIGNMENT PUSH KEY TO BE
PROGRAMMED

So now you press the key that you would like to change to Food Stamp Subtotal for example

Then the display will read somthing like this: KEY ASSIGNMENT KEY NUMBER: XXX
CURRENT ASSIGNMENT:XXX ENTER NEW CODE, PRESS ENTER

Enter a new key code from the list of "Function Key Codes" on page 110and press ENTER, or press PAGE DOWN to display a list of key codes on the screen.

(as an example the Food Stamp Subtotal is "125 F/S SUB")

Type the key code
number you wish to place and pess ENTER. The KEY ASSIGNMENT screen
displays again

Continue to program function key locations as necessary. When you have completed function key programming, press the ENTER key to finalize. The screen displays:

KEY ASSIGNMENT PRESS ENTER TO
SAVE CHANGES OR PRESS ESCAPE TO EXIT WITHOUT SAVING

Press ENTER to save the changes you have made, or press ESC to exit without saving changes.
The printer will print out a receipt showing all the changes made to the keyboard.

So you will need the floowing keys to make Food Stamp features work
1. #125 F/S SUB
2. #126 F/S TEND

and you might as well add

3. #124 F/S SHIFT

Now that is not everything you have to do. You have to make the items or departments (groups or PLU's or NLUs) Food Stampable like you make an item taxable. Look at page 124 "FOOD STMP ELIGIBLEN"

OK hope all that helps and don't forget when you to go here when you need a new SAM4s Cash Register

Not sure what Product Bundle means? Is it a combo meal or something like that? If so yes the ER-650 could do that and I think a Sharp ER-A530 would also do that.

Hey Dave, I recently acquired a bar with the ER-650 and would like to set up a happy hour menu for my beer and liquor items. I have already set up the price level programming for level 2. Is there any way I can track how many times the happy hour price level is accessed?

Dave said...

It is not possible to track that short of reading through the electronic journal every day the way you have set it up.

If you want to track those items you could use a modifier key on the keyboard for happy hour. The modifier key changes the PLU number when ringing up so you can have unique PLU’s for happy hour. That way you could track them either via a group report or PLU report.

My er-650 is saying no drawer when I push the cash or charge keys. This is has never happened before. Can you help?

Dave said...

You are using a cashier/server with a drawer assigned that does not exist. Check the cashier number you are signed in on and I bet you find it programmed to open a drawer other then drawer #1. Pretty easy fix

Hello, I have 2 SAM4s ER650's in a convenience store. I use bar code scanning. Question is how do I set up the split pricing? Example: 3 cans for $5, individual cans $1.79. The manual says that I can ring up 4 cans @for 3 @for $5 and it should ring up 3 cans at $5 and 1 at $1.79. It does not. Tone only saying no PLU. Possibly I misunderstand the manual. The purpose is to track inventory along with the 3 for $5 type specials. Any suggestions or help is appreciated. Thank you.

Dave said...

Well I think the manual is a little miss-leading. It does not work as a mix and match table like the newer SAM4s cash registers would do. I programmed a machine here in my office and it does work however you have to start with a plu that is programmed for a group price already, so if you offeref something 3 for a $1.00 it works just fine, however if the item is $0.40 each and you had the PLU priced at $0.40 I do not think it will work. Sorry could not give you some good news. The new machines like the SAM4s SPS-520 RT will do what you are looking for.

i have a sam4s er-650 and every night we run a z report "end of day" the last three days it has not been able to run, when the registers are in Z mode and hit Z report it just beeps saying "time over" due to this, my sales for the last three days has been combining. i tried closing the batch by going to datatran but that did not work, could you please help?

Dave said...

Destanie I think we would need a little more detail and it sounds like you have two issues going on.

Are you pressing a button to take your Z report? You mentioned pressing Z report? Sound like a Macro key and that could in fact be causing the trouble.

The error you mentioned does not sound familiar, was it time out maybe? That would make sense with the Datacap not being able to process. That might need to have an init done to it.

Fee free to call for billable support at 1-800-863-2274 or if you got your Datacap from us and we support it through Mercury, Sterling, or Vantiv then that call would be free of course. You can also just blog back more detail and I'll try and help you with it.

I have a sam 4s 57 and have used for a couple years Suddenly it will not open for cash transactions. It opens for check and all charge transactions. It opens for just opening the drawer but not for cash transactions.

Dave said...

So the 57 is just the cash drawer. Do you know what model it is? Regardless of model it sounds like you programmed the cash drawer to not open by accident. If it works on all other media it is not a mechanical issue.

HI, I ALSO HAVE SAM4S ER650, I USE THIS MIX&MATCH PROGRAMME ALOT AND AS I CHECKED THE LIMIT IT HAS ONLY 0-40, BUT THEN AGAIN I CHECKED ON THE WEBSITE ABOUT THIS PRODUCT INFO, IT SAYS THE MIX&MATCH IS SET TO 0-99.
ANY IDEA ON MAXIMIZING THIS PROGRAMME? THANKS

Dave said...

The mix and match tables must be allocated in memory. However if you allocate now you will lose your existing program so unless you have software to back it up could be in trouble. We have Programming and Support for SAM4s cash registers

Is there a way to print a report of all transactions for a day?

Dave said...

Only if you have an Electronic Journal (EJ) set up. If not already set up no you can't. In most cases the EJ overwrites itself unless you have it set up otherwise. Sounds like you are not using this feature.
